Bestiarium
(2024)

A wooden box. Or a house? Here, a window, there, a balcony. And there are strange creatures in the attic. Who lives here? BESTIARIUM is an examination of the house as an organism, as a living being, as a space of coexistence. A space in which the housefly has a special supremacy.
Feathers flutter, doors creak, dust is stirred up. In the kitchen, the teapot whistles away, upstairs in the attic secrets are waiting to be discovered and deep down in the cellar there is a rumbling. And somewhere in between, a chamber choir of untroubled houseflies buzzes.
From fragments of figures, everyday objects and the interplay with the human body, a scenic bestiary emerges from an old transport box: a wood pigeon, a blowfly and a trembling spider thrust themselves into the limelight. Limbs, heads and bodies are transformed into new, curious creatures. Inspired by dusty zoology books and classic variety theatre acts, they sing us stories about living together in a shared space.
A homage to the house, and to those who inhabit it.
